N2
Based in Cape Town

The popular Cape Town based band N2 originally featured brothers Noel (keyboards) and Neugel Wentzel (bass guitar) who started out as a duo in 1987. While still in their teens (during the 70s), the brothers gained hands-on industry experience through performing with a ballroom band called Strand Combo Dance Band, of which they were also the founder members together with their father Kenneth.
The duo started performing in various club and Jazz venues in Kwazulu Natal, becoming known as one of the most entertaining Jazz & funk bands around. The duo was later joined by their younger brother Adrian on drums, and the band - now a trio - became even more popular in Durban. After a few months the trio decided to move back to Cape Town, where they were joined by a host of guest musicians (including female vocalists Carmen Exclusive, Almein Blasich, male vocalist Clinton Viljoen, and guitarists Sebastian Butler, Lionel Konstabel and Julius May) transforming the trio into a fully fledged function Jazz and dance band.
The current line-up consists of Neugen. Noel, Adrian, Clinton Stevens (guitar), Shade (female vocals) and Klint (male vocals). N2 has performed with some of the top names in the South African music industry, including Ernie Smith, the late Brenda Fassie, Robbie Jansen, Vicky Sampson and Jimmy Dludlu. International experience includes having performed in Germany and Abu Dhabi in the UAE. |
