‘Abacuss’ is one of Durban’s top function bands, a self-contained four piece band, who appear as a four-piece or with various front-line vocalists and musicians, depending on the needs of the client. Using their individual and combined stage-show experience, this fantastic band specializes in show performance, with the repertoire tailored to suit the client’s needs. They perform regularly at the Heritage Theatre, Hillcrest, allowing them time in-between shows to perform for the one-off corporate functions anywhere in the country. The band plays completely live with no tracks or loops.
Abacuss has performed with the likes of Melanie Lowe, Craig Urbani, Mandisa Bardill and Clayton Smith. Dawn Selby (Musical director) has performed with Joe Clarke, Vicki Samson, Shaluza Max, Dorothy Masuko, Busi Mhlongo.
Abacuss performed at the Superbowl, Sun City for the recent Spar conference in September 2000. The band also recently performed as the main act for the opening of the ICC Arena, Durban, with George Benson & Al Jurreau.

The basic band rep (4 piece) consists of a wide variety of music: Eric Clapton/Tina Turner/Fleetwood Mac/Lynard Skynard/Status Quo/Rock 'n Roll/Beatles etc. This band has a huge repertoire of over 1 000 songs and plays to suit the each audience and event.
