Simply Smooth is a function band from the Winelands, playing a variety of styles including Jazz, covers, Cabaret, Marimba, Ghoema, Rock, R&B... They have performed at venues such as the Arabella Sheraton Grand Hotel, Mount Nelson Hotel, Tuynhuys, 
Cape Grace Hotel, Cellars Hohenort, Cape Town International Convention Center (Marimba Restaurant), Green Dolphin Restaurant, V&A Waterfront and the Arabella Sheraton Hotel. The band is also very proud to have had performed in front of former president Nelson Mandela.
Ephron Maralack, founder and leader of the band, is a qualified pianist and saxophonist. He is a BCom graduate from the University of the Western Cape, but music has always been is first love, and he has been working in the music industry for the past 11 years. Ephron was part of the SA Army band for 7 years. He received most of his musical training in Cape Town Paarl. He has received his UNISA Gr 5 in Piano, as well as the Licentiate in Saxophone. He received further Jazz training from Henry February, as well as Mertyn Barrow at the Cape Jazz Workshop, where he also taught Jazz piano for 2 years.
The quartet consists of Ephron on sax / keyboard, Carl Van Rensburg on vocals and drums, Wesley Rustin on bass, Lorna Maralack on keyboard and Natalie on vocals. They have performed at various high profile functions, including the SAA Wine Awards (since 2000), as well as events for BMW, Hyundai, Parliament, etc.
